The Christie’s Old Masters sale offers paintings on a rich variety of themes and spanning six centuries of art history.
Highlights include new discoveries, such as the Saint Jerome by Sir Anthony van Dyck and a long-lost Neptune by Guercino.
The Italian Renaissance and Baroque is represented by The Madonna and Child with a Dog by Moretto da Brescia, a still-life by Panfilo Nuvolone, and Cupid and Psyche by Antonio Bellucci.
A portrait by Sir Thomas Lawrence, a landscape by John Constable and paintings by George Stubbs are highlights amongst other eighteenth century English works.
Other highlights include a panel by Joachim Wtewael, a Portrait of Margherita Gonzaga by Sir Peter Paul Rubens, and a still life by Isaak Soreau.
