Sir Christopher Meyer KCMG

23rd February 2018

Sir Christopher Meyer KCMG

We were so honoured to have Sir Christopher Meyer KCMG, former British Ambassador to the United States and Chairman of the PCC as our speaker on the 23rd February 2018.

Sir Christopher delivered an exceptionally captivating speech about his time as British Ambassador to the United States – it was the perfect balance of being incredibly charming and highly informed.

From his meteoric career, it would be fair to say that Sir Christopher has probably amassed the most powerful list of friends and colleagues of global influential that one could ever hope to find. If not only from having served from 1997 to 2003 as the British Ambassador to the United States, He was also the former Ambassador to Germany as well as numerous senior posts at the British Embassies in Moscow, Brussels and Madrid. If that was not enough for anyone, upon “retiring” in 2003 he returned to London, and within weeks took on the monumental task of Chairman of the Press Complaints Commission. In addition to this, he is also a highly accomplished author, commentator and broadcaster.

Sir Christopher could easily be described as one of the architects and true embodiment of contemporary Diplomacy. For anyone who has even the smallest interest in global affairs or trade, this was a totally unique opportunity to not only hear from, but actually meet one of the “greats” of English and Global diplomacy.

It was such a pleasure to return to Berry Bros. & Rudd. The setting, food and wines were exquisite as always. The speech was beautifully executed. As one of our members said ‘a once in a career event, that may never come again.’

The lunch was a huge success and enjoyed by all – a remarkable speaker accompanied by a highly engaged audience.
