This Paris edition of The Exceptional Sale brings together works, which illustrates Centuries of artistic creation, with a particular focus on France in the 18th Century. This year, Marie-Antoinette is the leading figure; the Queen’s taste is illustrated by two masterpieces: a japanned commode delivered to the young Marie-Antoinette by Macret circa 1770 and an armchair delivered for her bedroom at Versailles by Georges Jacob circa 1788. Also in the sale, an ancient Roman torso interacts with a pair of Sèvres porcelain vases and with a Coromandel screen; the preciousness of a Johann Christian Neuber box matches that of an embroidered Chanel jacket.

This is truly a stunning collection of lots which is worth a browse for any collector.
